| November 2002 - Niagara Conservation’s Turbo and Flapperless
toilets proved to be the top toilets in the market after out performing
the leading brands in a recent toilet-testing program. Seattle Public
Utilities and The East Bay Municipal Utility District sponsored study on
the performance of various toilet models, in order to promote water
conservation in their respective water service areas. Extensive testing
was preformed on 49 of the most popular commercial toilets available. The
objectives of study were to develop information on product performance,
water savings reliability, physical characteristics that will assist the
consumer in evaluating products and making purchase choices. The tests
determined flush performance, flush volume, trap diameter, water spot
area, and other toilet characteristics.
The results
of these tests were disturbing, after replacement of the generic flapper
with a generic flapper, the flush volume of the 1.6 gpf fixtures flushed
as high as 4.66 gpf. Twenty-eight of the 33 models that could be retrofit
with a standard flapper used more than 1.6 gpf after flapper replacement.
This concludes that the millions and millions of dollars that have been
spent on rebate programs throughout the nation have wasted time, energy,
and money on these supposed water conserving toilets. These rebate
programs pay homeowners and businesses to replace their 3.5 gpf toilet
with a 1.6 gpf toilet. Unfortunately due to the fact that most of the 1.6
gpf toilets are not really 1.6 gpf toilets after flapper replacement, the
money has been wasted.
Have toilet
manufactures deceived the American public into believing their toilets
conserve water and save money when they really do not? Serious
consideration must be given if we continue to promote flapper toilets to
customers throughout the nation, there will be significant impact to our
nation’s water resources if non-water saving toilets are recommended.
That is why the Niagara Flapperless toilet is a revolution in water
conservation. The Flapperless toilet is maintenance free requiring no
flappers, chains, or levers to replace; therefore is consistent,
guaranteed water conserving toilet.
